Getting ready for my first live gig!
All work on new releases has come to a grinding halt while I get ready to play out at my first live gig at Wedstock!
Wedstock is a private weekend long party in a field in the south of England and kicks off in 4 weeks time. It was a late decision to do this live gig but I feel it is essential to get some experience playing live.
This means that everything I have written for the new EP “Flux” has to be re-worked for playing out live, which has proved tricky but insightful into what goes into a live set. Something else I’ve had to deal with is nerves! The thought of playing live and getting it right in front of a crowd had me shaking like jelly on a roller coaster. This it turns out has been a good thing! I decided that maybe playing live on the internet would be a good way to break the nerves thing so I started playing on Chatroulette, an experience which is not for the faint hearted (if you visit the site you will know why! WARNING: NOT SAFE FOR WORK!). Anyway it was proving hard to get a good audience there so I started looking for an alternative and struck gold . . .
I found a site called Justin.TV which was perfect for my needs, click on the link and you will see. I will be making another post dedicated to Justin.TV. Watch this space
So I now find myself a little more at ease about the prospect of my first gig, got to be a good thing!
Something else I’ve had to do is build a PC to take to gigs. It is the bastard child of components from my old PCs over the years, and seems to have turned out good. I guess the next thing to do will be take the whole setup to someones house, set-up and play out as a dummy run. Any volunteers?
